SAN MATEO — For one man, an open house apparently was an open invitation to steal the owner’s underwear.

Now, San Mateo police are asking for the public’s help in identifying the alleged bra burglar.

The theft occurred during a real estate agent-hosted open house and was reported to police on March 24.

Surveillance video the homeowner provided to police shows the suspect being greeted by the real estate agent inside the home. The suspect then begins walking around the home after the agent steps outside.

At one point, the suspect has a noticeable bulge around his stomach that wasn’t there when he first walked in to the home.

After the open house ended, the homeowner discovered that many of her expensive undergarments were missing, according to police.

The suspect is described as Asian and 5 feet 4 inches to 5 feet 8 inches tall with a slender build. He was last seen wearing glasses, a gray long-sleeve shirt, a vest and jeans.

Police on Friday released an image of the suspect.
